If I use the ECoSBoost at the Märklin® Central Station® Reloaded is there something special to watch?07.01.2021
Yes, the software of the Central Station® Reloaded may need to be updated so that the ECoSBoost can be recognize and configured by the Central Station® Reloaded.
To recognize the ECoSBoost, the Central Station® Reloaded must be at least firmware version 2.0.4.
If your Central Station® Reloaded is already updated to version 2.0.3., you can upgrade the firmware to 2.0.4. by yourself. The software can be downloaded from the Märklin® web site.

How do I connect the ECoSBoost to my Märklin® central Station® Reloaded?07.01.2021
With the enclosed 70cm ECoSlink bus cable, the ECoSBoost can be easily connected to one of the three appropriate sockets of the central station® Reloaded. Therefore you are able to operate three boosters directly.
If you wish to use more than 3 boosters, you will need one ore more of the ECoSlink Terminal offering 6 more of the appropriate sockets. By doing so, you are able to extend the ECoSlink bus by 100m.

Can the ECoSBoost be used with Central Station 2?14.11.2011
No, it can´t. The ECoSBoost doesn´t have the required serial bus protocol.

Is it possible to use the ECoSBoost with the Märklin® 60VA trafo?14.11.2011
Yes, it it possible to operate the ECoSBoost with the Märklin 60VA trafo ("Systems Trafo"). This is especially recommended when operating a central station® to avoid voltage differences on the tracks.
Please reduce the maximum output voltage down to 3A to protect the power supply against overload.

There are voltage differences between the ECoSBoost and Märklin®?14.11.2011
I operate my central station® with the Märklin® 60VA power supply and the ECoSBoost with the attached 90VA power supply. The current monitor shows a voltage difference!
There is a voltage difference due to the different power supplies: The Märklin® power supply is unstabilised and delivers a load-dependend voltage which might exceed the ECoSBoost voltage in neutral. The voltage difference usually doesn´t cause an problems: The load control of a locomotive normally compensates the voltage differences.
Should you use unregulated boosters we recommend to use identical power supply units for the ECoSBoost and central station®. In this case please reduce the maximum output voltage down to 3A to protect the power supply against overload.

Why does my Märklin® central Station® not recognise my ECoSBoost?14.11.2011
To operate an ECoSBoost with a Märklin® central station®, the command station needs to have firmware version 2.0.4. or higher. All currently shipped (State: January 2008) central stations® have unfortunately an older firmware installed. You will have to play on the update to version 2.0.4. first before the ECoSBoost can be used with the device.
The update can be found on the Märklin® systems website under Downloads, you´ll be able to play on the update yourself.
The exact update procedure is described in the Central Station® manual on page 21. Moreover, the update will fix diverse bugs.

Do I have to send the Booster in to have an update done?12.02.2009
No. If you purchase an ECoSBoost, you afford a comfortable booster that can be updated. This will happen automatically when you connect it with a central® station® or an ESU ECoS command station. This is why you do not need to send the booster in.
Both the current central® station® and the current ECoS command station include the latest ECoSBoost firmware. To get your ECoSBoost up to date, you should first supply your command station with the latest sortware. After that all connected devices will be updated automatically.

Does the 8 Amp type really have 8 ampere? Other boosters in this energy class are much bigger!12.02.2009
Of course, it has. The energy value stated are reliably reached if you use the enclosed power supply. Since the 8 Amp ECoSBoost type can be quite heated up during operation, the cooling is ensured by an temperature-controlled aerator.
-
How many ECoSBoost can be operated with one ECoS?12.02.2009
As up to 128 devices are allowed for the EcoSlink Bus, you could theoretically use up to 128 ECoSBoost devices.
-
Is the booster able to amplify all different digital protocols at the same time?12.02.2009
Oh yes, it is. You can chose via the command station the order of the data formats and also which data formats should be used.

Is the ECoSBoost suitable for three rail layouts? What do I have to do?31.10.2008
Obviously you can use the ECoSBoost for three rail layout s too. We recommend you to prevent short circuits at the passing of the dividing point between two sections of track to install a "slider lifter".
