True Line Trains MP36PH-3C
The MP36PH-3C has the same prime mover as the "-3S" model, the EMD 645F3B diesel engine, but with its HEP generated by a separate Caterpillar C-18 diesel engine, thus the "C" in its model name. In this arrangement, when providing HEP, the full 3600 HP from the prime mover is available for traction, and the prime mover is allowed to idle at a lower RPM.
The MP36PH-3C sound is correct for many of the Rebuilt F40PH locomotives. As they were rebuilt many of the shaft driven HEP units were replaced with separate CAT HEP's. VIA's Rebuilt F40PH's are a prime example. Always do your research to be sure you are using the correct prime mover for your installation!
Along with a very nice K5LA horn, as with all Select decoders there are a total of 16 separate horns, 2 separate brake squeals, an air bell and an E-Bell all included on this one sound profile! All changeable using CV48
